I will marry mama!!! When these words were uttered everyone was shocked, because this was uttered by a 14 year old girl.
The mama in picture was a happily married man with two daughters. He would often come to this girl’s house. Let’s name this girl X. X was the only daughter and was properly pampered. The daughters of mama also were very friendly with X and would play together and have fun.
Mama stayed in Madras. When the second daughter was four, mami passed away. It was really difficult for mama to look after the daughters. So he called his mother in law to Madras to look after the kids. She looked after the house for almost two years. But unlike other mothers-in-law, she was constantly pestering her son in law to have a second marriage, which he always postponed saying something or the other like any other man.
When he had come to X’s house after a long gap of 2 years, he started talking to X’s father about this issue. He was like “who will marry me? Even if someone marries will she be a good mother to my children?”… So X’s father was like if u are really interested don’t worry we will try and find a good girl from our family. For which X said the above words.
Everyone was surprised that she is hardly 14 and how will she look after the kids who are just 4 years younger to her. But she was like I like the kids and I can manage. The kids also were very excited that she would be coming with them to Madras and they could have fun. The marriage was performed. And the kids teased her through out the journey. She was damn excited as this was her first train journey of her life.
This is a true story which was told to us by my eldest athai (father’s sister), when she came over this time. And X is none other than my paati. We never knew this version of the story, and were quite shocked yet thrilled to hear something like this. We fought with our athai for not telling us about this when paati was there as it would have been really fun to tease paati And in fact this athai is the eldest of the two daughters whom I talked about. Though late, it was really enchanting to such a nice story of my ever great and selfless paati.

For a short while I thought "Mama" meant Mommy, not the indian meaning of it.. :D
I have heard a lot of kids say that when they grow up they will marry their parents.. like my friend's kids, a girl and a boy, were talking that when they grow up, the girl will marry the father and the boy the mother and they will be a happy family together!! Lol!!

To be frank, this is the first blog i happened to read and it was really surprising to read and made me read it fully without any break/interruption till the end....
Though i had imagined that the girl cud be you (believe me i started reading with that assumption) whoz saying this.
The ultimate thing was the character whom i unexpected (your paaty, a hats off to her) and the way you blogged it.
